This week in Mandarin, Year 7 turned their hand to some traditional Chinese calligraphy. First, they practised writing with a calligraphy brush and water. When they felt confident and had decided which characters they wanted to write they swapped the water and absorbent sheets for real ink and rice paper. Some wrote numbers, others wrote the names of animals but the most popular phrase seemed to be "I speak Chinese". A very fitting comment on a term of fantastic progress in Mandarin!
