We recently entered four students into a Southwark wide Junior History Essay competition run by the Worshipful Company of Curriers. The students wrote 2000-word essays around the theme of 'London's Leather Industry.' Connie D (Year 11) came second- place for her essay presenting why the tanning industry came to be in Bermondsey. Connie was praised for her 'well-chosen evidence to bear in support of her argument,' and the judges particularly liked how she 'brought in family experiences of the tanning process.' Mia W (Year 10) won a 'highly commended' award for her essay. The judges said they thought it was an interesting and well-written essay. Both students attended a prize-giving ceremony in Guildhall on Thursday 16th May at which the Lord Mayor London presented the prizes. We are so proud of these students and all the entrants.
